So what is the story?

NewsCup has been in development for two years. In February 2007 a demo was finished and presented to a small group in New Orleans. The software worked then, and worked well. But, was it ready for launch, for prime time?

The last year has focused on rewriting the backend to be scalable. It's now written in C/C++ in a group of libraries. Many of the libraries used in NewsCup are Open Source and NewsCup aims to be aligned principles that make Free Software a success.
