NewsCup proudly enters the Vertica Systems, Inc Beta Program
NewsCup will be integrating VerticaDB into its core systems. Vertica is one of the first ground up database initiatives in years. Scalable, fast, Linux ready, compatible with existing SQL concepts. NewsCup will have a true competitive advantage as it begins to change the landscape of personalized information management.
Vertica is a Boston based company with guidance from some of the brightest folks in database technology – in both in academia (MIT, Brown, UW, Brandies, etc), the tech business, and database technologists associated with IBM, Oracle, Postgresql (Co-Founder also created INGRES and DBMS), and more.
Vertica is partnering with many innovative companies creating turnkey solutions, while at the same time exploring the cutting-edge in genetics and the Semantic Web.
Vertica considers the VerticaDB product to be open access, but during these competitive and formative years, the VerticaDB is not Open Source. The C++, Java and ODBC (used by PHP) makes the database system accessible to many systems.
